Thing #3

I would use a blog in my classroom for a couple of reasons. I would get the children in my classroom write a blog about how their day was, what they learned, and what they did not understand. Also, have them include what they liked the best and the worst. If the children had an idea on something to do in class, have them write in the blog. I think using a blog would be so helpful with ideas and helping you as a teacher understand exactly what the children like and do not like. The blog would also be helpful to students who are shy and too quiet to talk during class and give their opinion.

  1. I like your idea that the students could write how their day was and get their input. Another good idea why a blog would be useful in a classroom is to put a weekly schedule where the parents could see what the students are doing. Doing that would save thousands of sheets of paper!

  2. I love the idea of having children write about their day in the blog (given that they are old enough to do so) because you (and they if they are sophisticated enough) can use that as a way to mark progress throughout the school year. You wouldn't even have to limit the progress to one subject area or even to just subjects. This would be a wonderful way to assess behavior, writing skills, and sophistication all at the same time as well as making sure they are learning the subject material. Wonderful idea!

  3. Your ideas on classroom uses of a blog are brilliant! I really like the idea of using it to get student feedback and suggestions, as well as Ashley's idea of including a weekly schedule for the parents to see. This would be a great addition to Tennessee's PowerSchool for parents to keep up with their students progress and to keep in touch with the teacher.

  4. I agree with everything you are saying. I am one of those shy and quiet people, so I know that communicating through blogs is a great way for me to express the way I am thinking. Also, having the kids express their days in a blog would be a great activity for them! i think children love talking about heir days to people and blogs would surly allow them to do that.
